About the Team:
The Calgary Cannons were a Triple-A team that played in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from 1985 until 2002. The team was a success from its inception, drawing 272,322 fans in its first 63 games. Cannons pitchers tossed no hitters in 1985 and again in 1988, helping lead the team to five playoff appearances. The Cannons' final game was played on September 2, 2002, against the Edmonton Trappers. It ended in a wild 14-13 victory before a sellout crowd of 8,512. Many Major League players wore a Cannons jersey, including Tino Martinez, Alex Rodriguez, and Derrek Lee. The team moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico following the 2002 season to become the Albuquerque Isotopes. The Cannons logo, originally featuring a baseball being launched from the "C," was updated in the mid 1990's to showcase a traditional cannon. Then in 1998 the team adopted an animated cannon featuring the classic maple leaf of their home country.
