The Utica Blue Sox played in the Eastern League and the New York-Penn League. The Blue Sox name dates to 1944 when their parent club, the Phillies, were also known as Blue Jays.
Future Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn hit. 362 for the 1947 Eastern League champion Blue Sox. That team went 90-48 and won the pennant by 10 games over Albany.
